Motorcycles have a big influence in Rio. For some it’s a way to make money, but I think for everybody riding is a form of freedom and a nice release. This event takes place in Jardim Catarina in São Gançalo - a favela in the northwestern part of Rio. A half mile road is organized so riders can do wheelies and show off their talent and control. Most of them are older, but the younger kids in attendance are training up on their bicycles so when the time comes to use a motor they’re ready.
